Bucyrus, Ohio May 16, 2018: Today, the City of Bucyrus closed on the purchase of the McFarland’s Trailer Park property, located at 1517 E. Mansfield Street in Bucyrus, Ohio. This property has long been an area targeted for property maintenance issues. Law Director Rob Ratliff stated, “We have worked hard to heal the blight throughout our community caused by property maintenance issues. This project has taken nearly five years to bring to this point. I truly appreciate the support and backing of our City Council in recognizing the importance of cleaning up this property.”

Over the next several months the City will undertake a clean-up process. The trailers will be auctioned by the City for scrap at the City’s online auction site, www.govedeals.com. The city will also be working with current tenants at the Park to help them find new lodging.

Welcome Bucyrus Code Officer Gordon Grove

Bucyrus is proud to present Gordon Grove as our new Code Officer! If Gordon looks familiar, it is because he is a retired Captain of the Bucyrus Fire Department. Gordon has a heart of service for the residents of Bucyrus and is committed to help Bucyrus move toward cleaner, stable neighborhoods. Officer Grove will be enforcing the Property Maintenance Code and other codes that apply to the care and upkeep of properties in our community.

Mayor Jeff Reser and Law Director Rob Ratliff are serious about cleaning up blighted properties and holding negligent owners accountable. That is why they asked Bucyrus City Council to budget for this newly created position in 2017 and they are thankful that Gordon Grove has accepted this tough job.
