 What is the Property Maintenance Code?

The City of Bucyrus has adopted the International Property Maintenance Code (Ord. 56-99) to establish the minimum regulation governing the conditions and maintenance of all property, buildings and structures in Bucyrus. The Property Maintenance Code provides the standards for supplied utilities and facilities and other physical things and conditions essential to ensure that structures are safe, sanitary, and fit for occupation and use; and the condemnation of buildings and structures unfit for human occupancy and use and the demolition of such structures.

 Here is a list of common violations we address:

  • Unsafe structures
  • Structures needing condemned
  • High Grass and Weeds
  • Structures needing paint or siding repair
  • Trash and debris on a property
  • Vandalized structures

 Who administers the Property Maintenance Code?

The Property Maintenance Code is administered by Bucyrus Code Officers, Gordon Grove. Violations are prosecuted by the Bucyrus Law Director, Brian Gernert.
