Public Lands and Buildings Committee Minutes APRIL 23, 2010 Committee Members Present: John Walker, chairman, Norma Hill, Ken Emerson, and Bruce Truka. Others in attendance are listed on the back of this report. 1) DOWNTOWN TRASH RECEPTACLES: After Deb Pinion, 501 W. Charles St. came to the April 20, 2010 Council meeting to discuss trash containers or the lack of them, I had a short meeting with SSD Sid Seevers. Mrs. Pinion brought copies of the trash receptacles with cigarette receptacles combo. This was placed in front of SSD Seevers and I was told that these were made of plastic and were not something that we would want to put uptown. These were at a cost of $119.99 per unit. The receptacles that the SSD were looking at were metal and would carry the same look as the new street lights downtown, but these would be at a cost of $795.00 per unit. These would have to be purchased with General Fund monies. 2) LION‘S PARK REPAIRS: SSD Seevers said that Mr. Dan Routzhan didn’t speak for the Lion’s Club. He had brought a large list of things that needed repair at Lion’s Park on Whetstone St. Mr. Seevers said that we do not have the employees to put on this job at this time, but the city would supply paint and materials for volunteers to do the job. 3) AUMILLER POOL UPDATE: Aumiller Park Pool will be open this year! The new supervisor for the pool will be Taylor Baum and the work force will be part-time city employees, said SSD Seevers. Seevers also said that she had all of the paperwork to do this job. 4) MOWING OF WASHINGTON SQUARE: SSD Seevers said that as we were having this meeting that the Washington Square was being mowed. 5) ADJOURNMENT: With nothing else to come to the Public Lands and Buildings Committee, a motion to adjourn was made by Truka, seconded by Emerson. All were in favor. Motion carried. Time of adjournment was 10:51 A.M.
