Finance Committee Minutes

COUNCIL CHAMBERS

Attendees: Finance committee members present were Ken Emerson, Mike Jacobs, Steve Pifer and Sis Love Chairperson.  Others in attendance are listed on the back.

    1. Aumiller Park Swimming Pool – Service Safety Director Seevers reviewed with the committee the budget for the 2010 season with anticipated revenue of  $34,500.00 and expenses of $46,673.50   The admission rates for 2010 will be $3.50 for Adults, $2.50 for students, $1.00 for children and $2.50 for Seniors.  Taylor Baum will be the pool manager and will be meeting with the Service Safety Director next week to plan for the summer season.  Life Guards will be paid to a maximum of State Minimum wage, the Manager and Assistant manager not to exceed $12.50 and $10.00 per hour, respectively.  The number of  “free Swim” days for 2010 is still to be determined.   $32,700.00 needs to be transferred from “Pool Outside Contractors”  line of  the Swimming Pool Fund  to  newly created Personal services lines in the same fund.   A “transfer to swimming Pool”  line needs to be created within the Philbin Trust Fund and $10,000.00 transferred to the line.  Ordinance 42-2009 needs modified to reflect the new Federal Minimum wage on all places where it is the minimum and the Lifeguards under section F. Recreation department have the maximum wage changed to “up to Federal Minimum Wage or $7.30”  - exact wording to be determined by the Law Director.  Motion by Emerson and 2nd by Pifer to make all the changes.  Auditor and committee chairman will submit requests for legislation.
    2. Legislation request from Service Committee – The Service committee is favorable to the new 15 year Crawford  County Solid Waste Management  plan.  The new rates that went into effect on January 1, 2010 ($1.50 per ton increase)  will be reduced to the 2009 rates once this legislation is passed and the new plan becomes effective with the Solid Waste district.  Motion by Pifer and 2nd by Jacobs to accept the Service Committee recommendation.   Motion Passed.  Service Committee will submit legislation.
    3. Motion to adjourn by Jacobs and  2nd by Emerson at 6:40 PM. Motion Passed.
